Organiser Rob Cranston made a few subtle changes to the annual Wilton Park Boxing Day event this year, moving the start to the local village hall and introducing lots of new control points, some of which required more reading than a few people gave them – resulting in lost points. As usual there was a difference of opinion concerning the number of strands of wire on a certain fence post but overall the troops were happy.
The hall was warm and welcoming and Carolines soup went down a treat. First prize went to Ian Maxwell who got all the points but mucked up one of the answers, first lady was Lindsey Knox who printed the maps but hadnt planned her route (honestly), first junior was Kirstin Maxwell who decided that there were NO strands of wire on the post (wrong), and booby prize of a brussel sprout went to Andrew Tullies mate Stewart Fraser we like to make newcomers welcome!
The new banners were given their first airing (thank you SOA development fund) and the locals were amused. Even Carol rushed back from the Caribbean rather than miss the mince pies. All in all a good day out, thanks to Rob for organising.
The next social occasion is the Club Champs/AGM at Bowhill on 10 February 2007.
