Reivers end SOL season on a high

After 6 rounds of the 2005 Scottish Orienteering League two members of Roxburgh Reivers had their age classes sewn up, but for another two it was down to the wire last Sunday when they had to win the final round to be certain of taking the title. The competition took place near Altarstone Forest, near Stobo on an area never used for orienteering before.

Having already won JW2, Karen Maxwell ran JW3 at Stobo, finishing in 3rd place. Ian, having won M45S opted to run M45L and finished 6th.

Both Kirstin Maxwell (JW4) and Lindsey Knox (W45L) went into the final round leading the League but, with several rivals hot on their heels, they knew that they had to produce good runs. Both ladies did just that with Kirstin finishing a close second but gaining enough points to win overall, and Lindsey finishing a clear minute in front of the rest of the field to seal her first Scottish title.

A delighted Club President, Judy McNeilly, said “We’re one of the smallest clubs in Scotland and it’s a tremendous achievement for us to have four Scottish League Champions”.
