With a busy autumn orienteering season about to start there was good news for most of the younger members of Roxburgh Reivers this week with the announcement of Scottish teams for the Senior and Junior Home Internationals. Heading for South Wales later this month will be Teviothead’s Douglas and Andrew Tullie and Jedburgh’s Kirstin Maxwell who are all selected for the Scottish Junior Team. Sarah Tullie is also in the running for the team, currently selected as a Reserve.
James and Douglas Tullie have both been selected for the Scottish Team for the Senior Home Internationals taking place next month in Northern Ireland. With some of the regular team away on British Team duties both men are being asked to run-up an age class which is fitting reward for the hard training they have both done this year.
The 4th round of the Scottish Orienteering League was held last weekend at Carse of Ardesier near Nairn with only five Reivers making the long journey north. However, it was a worthwhile trip because, on a glorious sunny day in an enjoyable runnable forest, there were victories for Karen Maxwell on W10, Kirstin Maxell on W14, Ian Maxwell on M45S and Lindsey Knox on W45L. Eileen Maxwell finished 6th on W45S only 12 minutes behind the winner. These results leave Karen Maxwell, Lindsey Knox and Ian Maxwell all leading their classes in the Scottish League but with three rounds to go there are still ample opportunities for them to be overtaken.
