Selkirk Hill 15/9/12

Results are HERE.

Organisers Report:

Several mentions of how much better the weather was compared to the last event at Selkirk in February this year – orienteering is certainly more enjoyable on dry sunny days. Some controls were more difficult to see, as they were fixed to stakes at ground level, but we feel that secure fixing is necessary in heavily used public areas to reduce the risk of vandalism to the expensive timing boxes.

It is good to see families coming to these events, and confidence will grow the more times you come! Well done all.

Thanks very much to Rob and Lindsey for invaluable help, and to Eb for bringing in some of controls.

CompassSport Final – return of the Haggis

We’re chuffed to bits to announce that we’ve persuaded the designer of some very memorable 6-Day string courses out of retirement for the CompassSport Cup Final. Do you remember the spiders webs at Bowhill in 1991, the Haggis people in 1997 at Breadalbane, or the working models at Dallaschyle in 1999 when lots of WOC competitors went round the string course ?

2012 will see the return of the Haggis people, 15 years older and just a little wiser !
