The results from Sprint No. 1 are HERE
Well done to Faisal for planning his first event and coming up with the twist in the Maze. Well, you can’t go to Traquair without visiting the maze can you ? Note that the battery in control 118 had died so the results have a blank for that one. We’ve also removed the splits for controls 7 and 8 because control 7 was in the wrong place for early starters.
The Sprint Series results for RR members will be updated on Facebook.
Thanks to Faisal for Planning and to Bridget and Yousuf for helping put out the controls etc.
11 May 2016 is World Orienteering Day when it’s hoped to beat the Guinness World Record of people participating in orienteering on one day. The current record is 207,979 from 2003.
So, come along to the Millers Knowes in Hawick for a sprint race and be part of that record attempt. More details – HERE
Remember that the sprint series kicks off on Wednesday evening at Traquair. For this sprint event only we’ll also have a Yellow course. This is because we already have the maps printed from our postponed event there in December.
Results from a damp Lanton are HERE
Thank you to all of you who came along and said you enjoyed your run. Having planned the event in Lanton last year, I tried to use a different area this time. Apologies for the control in the wrong place but you may have noticed that the bushes in the tower field are not very accurately mapped. The control started off only on the orange course and was meant to be easily found from the ditch/stream.
Thank you to Lindsey for checking my courses and giving me helpful advice and then for manning the computer on the day. Thanks also to Rob, Ian and Lindsey for helping bring in controls. I’d taken 2 ½ hours to put them out and was glad that I didn’t have to bring them all back in myself in the rain. Finally, thanks to Ian for managing all of the permissions and to Eileen for bringing the extension cable and inviting me in for coffee afterwards. (Apologies for not taking you up on the kind offer, I was too tired and my feet were soaking so I just wanted to get home.)
Pauline, Organiser/Planner
The Scottish qualifying round of the 2016 CompassSport Trophy took place at Dumyat/Stirling University today and RR finished an excellent 2nd which means we’re in the Final 🙂 Maximum points for class winners Faisal Khursheed, John Tullie and Robin Sloan plus a 2nd place for Pauline McAdam were the key to the results – well done to everyone though, as it’s a team effort.
The final is in October near Sheffield and we’ll be looking to improve on our 2nd place in 2013.
