Sandyknowe Craigs/Smailholm Tower.

Parking/Registration:  at Smailholm Tower.  Follow the existing Tourist signs from the main road, through the Sandyknowe Farm steading, past the small loch and on to the Tower. There won’t be any orienteering signs at the main road end.  Map HERE

Courses:  There will be 2 TD5 courses, a Green and a Short Green.  If there’s demand for it there will also be a Yellowy/Orange course so make sure you pre-enter if you want this course. 

Courses lengths:  Green 3.5km/ 100m climb.  Short Green 2.5km/ 75m climb.  Yellowy/Orange 1.5km/ 45m climb.

Terrain: Open cattle-grazed land with a lot of contour detail, gorse and crags.  Very few line features apart from the fences which separate the area into 4 blocks.  Courses will be planned to avoid barbed or high fences. There should be no cattle when we’re there.

Entry fees: Senior members £4.50,  Junior members £2.25,  Non-members £5.50 / £2.75. Fees payable by card (preferably), exact cash, or by BACS.

Timing:  Sportident timing.  Hire of contactless dibber 50p, hire of older manual dibber Free.

Clothing/Footwear:  Full leg cover is compulsory.  Shoes with some grip recommended.
