Eildon Hills & Woodlands Orienteering Event

This is a fund-raiser for Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue with the surplus after costs going to the team.
Parking/Registration: The start is located close to Rhymer’s Stone, Melrose – Post code is TD6 9HA. Ample parking on the public road – please do not block people’s driveway. Registration will open at 10:30am. It’s a short walk to the Start line.
Terrain: Generally muddy (unless frozen) you are recommended to wear trail shoes or similar with some grip.
The Eildon Hills can be quite exposed in winter, so please think about carrying a water/wind proof top. If conditions are poor, being equipped with one may be compulsory.
Starts: 11:00 – 13:00 with courses closing at 14:30.
Courses:
- Yellow 2.1km, 75m of climb (short in length/easy navigation),
- Orange 3.4km, 125m climb (medium/medium)
- Green 3.7km, 280m climb (medium/difficult),
- Red 5.9km, 160m climb (long/medium, very suitable for adult runners).
Entry fees: Senior BOF/SOA members £5.50, Junior BOF/SOA members £2.75. Non-members £6.50/£3.25. SIAC dibber hire + 50p, older manual dibber hire free.
Entry: Pre-entries have now closed. Limited entry on the day.
Note – RR club members will be at the Registration to offer help and advice to beginners of all ages so everyone is welcome. If you have a compass, then please bring it along and we can show you how to use it with the map to aid your navigation and make orienteering more fun ! We’ll also have a few spare compasses to lend you for the day.
