We’re back to the fun of the rhododendrons of Dundock Wood for our January event which will include our RR Club Championships.

Please note a change to insurance cover: As from 1/1/26 participants who are not members of British Orienteering are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insurance. By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered. Regular and semi-regular orienteers may wish to consider becoming a BO member for a fairly modest annual cost.  Existing Scottish Orienteering members can upgrade by phoning British Orienteering and paying the difference.

Parking:  The small car park off the A697 at NT 819 398.   Map HERE

Starts:  11:00am Mass Start for Club Championships and Open.  11:00 to 11:10am staggered starts for Orange.

Courses:  A 40 minute Score event for the club championships and Open event, plus a short Orange for less experienced (it’ll have a mix of Yellow and Orange legs so beginner primary age children must be accompanied). 

Club Championships:  will be a handicap system as usual.  40 minutes to find as many controls as possible which will then be compared to the sealed handicap, highest % against target wins.  In the event of a tie the fastest person will win.

Terrain: A maze of paths and small clearings amongst a huge area of rhododendrons. Some paths are muddy in all weathers, wear suitable footwear – metal studs if you have them as some of the small wooden bridges are slippy.  As well as the maze of rhododendrons there are also some areas of really nice woodland.

Safety:  The car park could be busy, please take care especially if you have young children with you.  You may encounter walkers, dogs, horses – be courteous and pass quietly.  Anyone with a relevent medical condition which we should be aware of may leave a sealed envelope with the details on it with Organiser which they can retrieve unopened after they Finish. Entries:  Pre-entries are now open HERE.   Pre-entry essential for club members wishing to get a handicap for the Club Championships.   Closing date for pre-entries is bedtime on Sunday 25/1/26 after which late entries need to email Lindsey to check map availability.

Entry fees: Senior members £4.50,  Junior members £2.25,  Non-members £5.50 / £2.75. Fees payable by card (preferably), exact cash, or by BACS.

Timing:  Sportident timing.  Hire of contactless dibber 50p, hire of older manual dibber Free.

Clothing/Footwear:  Full leg cover is compulsory.  Shoes with some grip highly recommended.
