Come and Try / Autumn series

Our August Come and Try series kicks off at Melrose on 20 August. There will be 2 courses at each event, one for beginners/families plus one for runners with a bit of experience which will be good training (designated as “Club” course but open to everyone)

Waterproof maps and electronic timing at all events.

Forthcoming events

The club is having a break for the school holidays but we’ll be back doing local events starting on 20 August with our first in a series of 6 Come and Try events in Melrose, Gordon, St.Boswells, Oxton, Newtown St. Boswells and Lauder. Courses and help for beginners plus something a little harder for the more experienced. All welcome.

The CATI series is followed by our usual Autumn series. Venues this year are Selkirk Hill, Bowhill, Teviothead and Lanton.

More details will be added to the website nearer the time. Meantime there are still events happening elsewhere over the summer ( see https://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/event) plus some virtual courses (see the menu heading on this website).

Thanks to Keith for Organising/Planning, John for the use of the area, Duncan for doing the computing, Teviotdale Juniors for coming along, and to everyone who helped collect in the controls at the end. This concludes the current series and the final points tally will be published on the club Facebook page in due course.

Sprint 1: Abbotsford results

Full results from the Abbotsford sprint are HERE

There was a good turnout for the new map, thanks to Robin for the mapping and organising / planning.

Really pleased to see the map of Abbotsford used at last – it was ready 2 years ago, but worth waiting for a great turnout on a superb evening. Thanks to all those who came, hope you enjoyed the run. Kudos++ to Colin Williams for getting under 14 minutes, Ian, Tim, Fiona & Bethany battling it out on 15.

Pity about the recently erected Heras fencing at the walled garden, hope folk weren’t too confused by it, nor the next stretch of path which was closed off. All too late to be mapped!

Thanks to those who helped bring in the kit – a working pencil would have helped me avoid some duplication! Now looking forward to the boulder-fest at Gordon next week!
