- Yellow 1.6km
- Mass Start Championships/Open Race
This will be a ‘score’ event (Orange standard) (i.e. controls can be visited in any order); the number of controls you need to visit will depend on your handicap – somewhere between 10 and 18 – and the quickest to visit the required number wins!
Handicaps are here as PDF file: .RR Champs 2016 Handicaps Final v3
The map will be printed at 1:5000 scale with 5m contours, and updated for recent changes.
The Massed Start will be at 12.15pm, with the Yellow course starting immediately afterwards.
Being an urban area, juniors aged 12 and under must enter the Yellow course. This course will cross two quiet roads at marshalled crossing points. Any other Junior or Adult may of course also enter the Yellow course.
Massed Start Score event:
For this event, most roads at Tweedbank are marked on the map with the solid red “boundary” line symbol, which means these roads must not be crossed. However, the quieter cul-de-sacs and parking areas are crossable with care. You may run along pavements beside ‘uncrossable’ roads. The bus route, Tweedbank Drive, must only be crossed at the single marked underpass.
This course is open to non-RR members but only members can win the handsome championships trophy!
Non- Club members: we can’t give you a handicap, so visit as many controls as you can in 45 minutes.
Courses will close at 1.45pm. Please make sure you are back at the finish by then to enable us to collect controls in and go ahead with the AGM.
Toilets and facilities:
There are no public toilets available at Tweedbank, despite having a brand new railway station! Please use facilities in Galashiels, Selkirk or Melrose. After the event, full facilities will be available at Tweedbank Barns where the AGM is being held.
The Tweedbank area is a mixture of parkland and housing, but with a good path network. Many of the controls will be on parkland terrain, so shoes with a good grip are recommended and in some areas, the direct route may take you through low bramble patches. Like everywhere else, the ground is saturated, so it can be very wet or slippy underfoot. Please therefore wear appropriate footwear and leg protection.
SI cards (dibbers):
Available for hire as normal
There will be a separate notice about the AGM, which will be held after the Local Event, but please refer to Map to see location and parking.
