27/04/2022 @ 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm Europe/London Timezone
Robin Sloan

19/4/22:  Entries now closed.  A small number of extra maps will be printed, email Robin Sloan if you would like to try to book one of them.

The 3rd new map of the year !

Parking: at TD6 9BQ, NT512343   (the official Abbotsford car park, just off the Tweedbank roundabout.) Ignore Parking charge signs – charging doesn’t start till the end of April and anyway will only be from 10.00 to 5.00pm. The Visitor Centre toilets will not be available, Tesco in Galashiels probably nearest guaranteed to be open.

Courses:  Yellow (1.5km) plus Orange Sprint (2.0km / 14 controls)  (winning time could be less than 15 minutes).

Map: The map is at scale 1:4,000, 5m contours, drawn to ISSprOM2019

Terrain: Mixture of runnable woodland, rough open and ornamental garden, mostly suitable for shorts, but as patches of young brambles under the trees, may be best with leg coverings or gaiters. Also you might find some quite steep slopes to negotiate on the Sprint course, so good grippy shoes recommended.

If you find yourself on the ornamental terrace on the river side of the House, please keep to the paths, not the lawns. The stone steps may be slippery, especially if wet, take care.

Where the following symbol is used for a hedge, this also means it is not to be crossed – even if it’s possible!

On the SPRINT course, there is a small exclusion area very near the second last control and is marked on the map. The edge will be taped, please do not enter (bee hives).

The public road, B6360 is out of bounds.

The estate is very popular with walkers in the evenings, please  be courteous to other people.

Starts:  6:30 – 7pm. The Start and Finish will be quite close to the car park.

Entry fees:  Senior members £3, Junior members £1.50,  Non-members +50p.  Hire contactless dibbers +50p per race.  Closing date for entries 17/4/22.  Late entries should email the Organiser.

Final information:  All the information you need will be here – let’s keep things simple !
