Night 2 – Millers Knowes and Heronhill

20/11/2019 @ 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm Europe/London Timezone

Night event 2 will be in Hawick – Millers Knowes and Heronhill.  Map here

Parking: In the Millers Knowes car park (GR – NT509 146, nearest post code TD9 9LE). Best approach is via Hawick High St., turning left up the hill past Hawick Town Hall. Carry on up the hill past the Wellogate cemetery then turn left along Braid Road on the edge of the town. (signed from here). At the end of Braid road there is a sharp uphill hairpin bend to the right and the entrance into the Millers Knowes car park is immediately after the next left-hand bend. PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY as people walking to the start will be using this entrance.

Registration: from 6.15pm will be in the car park, and very close to the Start and Finish.  No toilets available here.

Starts: From 6:30 – 7pm. Courses close at 8pm so come early if you think you might take a long time.

Courses: One course of about Orange standard. Straight line distance is 2.8km with 90m of climb. The course is all in fields and small patches of woodland.

Terrain: A mixture of cattle and sheep grazed fields with small patches of woodland and scrub plus the Millers Knowe public park. The map is a skilful Lindsey Knox amalgamation of the old Millers Knowes map with the more recent Heronhill & Orchard map with some new fields added to join them up.

Costs: Senior members £3.50, Juniors £1.50. Non members £4 and £2. Families a maximum of £8. Bringing the correct money would be helpful.

Equipment: A head torch is better than a hand-held one. Carry spare batteries in a pocket. Shoes with good grip are essential as the terrain is steep and muddy in places.

The next Night Event will be on Wednesday November 27th at Selkirk Hill.
