Sprint Series 4 – Gordon @ Gordon Community Woods
May 15 @ 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Sprint Series No 4 will be at Gordon Community Woodland

Sprint race plus a Yellow course

Parking will not be at the usual car park, but at the southerly one beside the Gordon to Greenlaw road A6105, about 1 mile east of Gordon village. This is quite a fast stretch of road, so take care when approaching.

Only part of the map will be used, and this is enlarged from the usual 1:7500 to a scale of 1:5000. Much of the woodland is mapped as ‘slow run’, with heather mixed with the trees in some areas.

The courses go near to the Eden Water, and if the weather has been wet, please take care near the watercourse, and advise juniors also to be careful. Neither the Sprint nor the Yellow course crosses the Eden.

Sprint Series 5 – Gala Policies @ Livingston Place, Galashiels
May 23 @ 6:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Sprint Series 5 will be at Gala Policies.

Sprint race plus a Yellow.

Parking near Gala Swimming Pool, or Balmoral Avenue.

Map scale is 1:5000. The Policies are usually quite runnable, but the undergrowth is suddenly shooting up, so take care and wear good leg protection. You are likely to meet many dog walkers, so please treat them with mutual respect.

The Finish is near a pond, and young participants should be reminded to keep well clear of the water. Also, as the area is very close to the town, there may be broken glass and debris – so again please take care.

Otherwise, Gala Policies is an interesting small area with a good network of paths and is well contained between the Housing, open fields and Gala Academy.
