RR Autumn Series 3 @ Selkirk Hill
Nov 18 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Selkirk Hill is a well defined area popular with walkers, with a complex path network and lots of small contour features. Some of the paths are narrow, and need care to follow, but a good area for juniors and families.

Registration and parking are at the Argus Centre, Goslawdales, Selkirk. Postcode TD7 4EP.  Signposted from the A7 at Selkirk High School.

Starts:

Start times from 1.00 to 2.00pm. There is a walk of 750m on a very quiet minor road to reach the start/finish area.  Please take care especially with young children.

Terrain:

Selkirk Hill can be muddy and slippery, and while the undergrowth is dying back there are still plenty of brambles and gorse, so wear full leg cover and grippy shoes or boots.

  • Yellow, easy course for younger juniors and newcomers (1.6km, average times 15-20 mins)
  • Orange, slightly more difficult, more route choice (2.1km, average times 30-40 mins)
  • Light Green, longer and more technically difficult (3.0km, average times up to an hour)

Courses close at 3pm at which time we will start collecting in the controls as it gets dark early.

Map:

Scale 1:4000, contour interval 5m, recently updated.

Entry Fees:

RR Urban Double Sprint @ Tweedbank & Melrose
Feb 25 @ 11:00 am – 11:00 am

Tweedbank and Melrose:

An exciting new format for RR – two urban sprints in one day, combined time for the two events will determine the winners. Full range of courses including juniors. Ample car parking or why not take the train on the scenic journey from Edinburgh to Tweedbank Station from where it’s a short walk to the Arena. Both events are within walking distance of the Arena.

Tweedbank has a good mixture of “new town” streets and alleyways with light traffic. Melrose is a more traditional small town, all centred round The Greenyards, home of the Melrose 7’s rugby tournament every April  (for rugby fans, the event is the day after the Calcutta Cup match at Murray field so you could make a weekend of it). Magnificent views of the surrounding area from the Eildon Hills. Plenty of cafes nearby as well as Abbotsford House, home of Sir Walter Scott.

Maps: Tweedbank was used for our 2013 SOUL and has an updated map: Routegadget  HERE Melrose has been mapped more recently and only used for a couple of small club events, so not on Routegadget.
