The 6th (and final) sprint race of the series will be In Darnick, followed by a short social/prizegiving.

Parking/Info:

The final event in the series is on Tuesday 28th on a new map and this will now include a YELLOW course, entirely traffic free. The rest of the area for the Sprint is a mixture of URBAN and WOODLAND, so if the ground is damp, shoes with good grip are advised.

Parking will be around the Broomilees Bridge over the Melrose by-pass, as featured regularly on traffic information signs in the Central Borders.

From the Melrose roundabout at the west end of the by-pass, take the Melrose exit and after 500m turn right into Darnick. Broomiless Road is first right after Darnlee House. Parking will be at the roadside, beyond the last house  on the right in Broomiless Road. If no space left, you may park in Gilroy Gardens, which is just after the last house on the left. Please be considerate and leave room for locals, farm traffic and Tesco delivery vans to pass.

Start and Finish will be at the entrance to Shunters Wud, just before the by-pass bridge.

The map will be 1:4000 for the Sprint course, and 1:2000 for the Yellow course. In Shunters Wud, the map shows no distinction between bigger paths and narrow trods (due to operator error!), so be careful. On the Sprint course, you may run beside but never on the main roads which are marked OOB.

As this area is popular with walkers, many with dogs, and also on a cycle route, please take care when passing other people. Take care on blind corners on the urban section of the Sprint.

Following the Sprint, there will be a prize giving for the series, and we are very grateful to the Darlow family for hosting this. Their house (second new house on left in Gilroy Gardens) is just round the corner from the start and finish, literally two minutes walk, so please come and cheer the winners – or collect your prize!

Entry fees:
Senior members £3,  Juniors £1.50
Non members:  £3.50 and £2.

Scoring: 6 events, with best 4 scores counting in the series. The winner of each race will get 30 points, 29 for 2nd and so on. (If there are more than 30 people everyone below 30th place will receive 1 point).
